UTD Wind Hosts Industry Advisory Board Winter Meeting

This January UTD Wind hosted its annual WindSTAR Winter Industry Advisory Board meeting. The meeting gathers industry partners, faculty, students and guests to showcase progress on wind energy research projects conducted both at UT Dallas and our partner UMass Lowell.

Since its inception in 2014 with 9 member companies and 5 projects, WindSTAR has experienced remarkable growth, now boasting 12 projects and a membership base of 18 companies spanning the supply chain of the wind power industry. The Center has successfully completed over 70 projects, with an additional 12 projects currently underway.

In addition to the project updates and a poster session, Dr. Mark Z. Jacobson of Stanford University gave the keynote presentation for the dinner banquet. His presentation entitled “How wind can help transition the U.S. and world to 100% clean, renewable energy and storage for everythingā€¯ demonstrated how quickly the U.S. could be powered with clean energy by deploying the technology we already have as fast as possible.

WindSTAR is the only Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) for wind energy research and education. The Center is a partnership between academia, the federal government and the private sector.
